is it ileagle for someone to purchase thier living parents home to avoid inheritance laws hassles in texas?

If they are complete owners without a mortgage, the answer is likely YES.

One can never really answer all the outcomes with that kind of open ended question, but there may be ways that it can also be attacked later... for example, if there is another heir who challenges the sale saying your used undue influence or your parents lacked capacity at the time of the sale.
