Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Judgement against home

I was going to refinance my home. When the title company did the search they found four judgement against the home. However they are not mines. Two are my ex-husband, then the other two are someone with the same name as my ex. I was awarded the home in the divorce settlement. I paid him the full amount that the court order me to pay. Can I fight this? If so do I need a lawyer? I just can't afford a lawyer at this point in my life. What are my options?

Re: Judgement against home

The two that are not his can be removed with a simple document called a not same person affidavit. The title company has a form. The other two, IF they were recorded before your divorce decree, do cloud your title and your ex must pay before you can refinance. If he'll do so voluntarily great. If not you'll have to sue him and you will need a lawyer. Why didn't your divorce lawyer make sure the house's title was clean before finalizing your divorce?
