Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

land laws

the county i live in has a drainage revine that goes thru my land, i have 16 acres. when it rains and water is in the bottom, there is no other way to get to the other 11 acres. i have som cows on this land and they need to be checked on. the fencing also needs to be checked frequently. i spoke to the county building foreman and was told that they were not responsible for providing me with a way to reach the other side, even though they claim the revine as part of their drainage system. it seems to me that the county essentualy has part of my property land locked or at least it is when it has been raining. is there any type of legal course that can force them to provide a crossing for me.

Re: land laws

You purchased the land that way, and in TX a person is stuck if they bought their way into being land locked. It would be different if it happened after the purchase. I could do some research to see if anything new has come up, but I don't see anything you can do aside from request the county to contribute to the cost of a bridge over the ditch. Let me know if you want the research. I spent 6 years working for the state with the OAG in Austin and have experience dealing with local government.
