Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
landlord/maintenance issues
We've been having alot of rain here where I live. When some of my electrical plugs died, I noticed it was because the wall where one is had been saturated with water and was visibly staining and the paint and dry wall was even bubbling out from the wall. The fuse obviously shut itself off as it's not live at all, thank goodness. However, I notified my landlord immediately and 5 days later, I haven't heard a peep from him regarding repairs. I've called twice. Due to an unreasonably long wait for my last electrical maintenance repair, I'm just about ready to write him a letter. What I would like to know is how long is reasonable to wait for repairs on something that could cause mold. I have a mold rider in my lease, which is pretty standard in Texas. I don't think there's mold yet, but I'm highly allergic to it so I can't exactly sit around and wait for it to appear before I get serious with these people.

You should go ahead and write your landlord a certified letter.
