Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
My old landlords failed to return my security deposit within the 30 days and I took them to court and won the judgement. They now owe me money and it has been nearly a year. I was told I could file a writ of garnishment but am not sure if they still bank at the same place as before and don't want to waste more money if they don't have the money in the account. How should I proceed?

You should abstract the judgment in the county clerk's office -- the clerk's personnel can walk you through this. This will place a lien on any real property the landlord owns in the county (except their homestead).
