I live on 75 acs that belong to my great uncle and I was told that if I had it surveyed I could have it put into my name. My uncle is now deceased, I have been living there and paying taxes for the last ten yrs. Can I do this

Re: Landsurveying
You would probably have to do more than survey the land. You need to determine ownership of the land. You can do this in a variety of ways, depending on what your uncle did before his death. If there was a probated will, then you should be okay, if you were the beneficiary of that parcel. If there was no will, then you would have to determine who inherited what at the time of the death. After that you would have to go back and have all of the uncle's heirs 'deed out' to you, in order to clear the title. This would probably be the path of least resistance. Alternatively, you could attempt a claim adverse possession.
