Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Mineral and Leasing Rights

My sister and I own the house we grew up in and the land it is on. A mineral leasing company recently leased this property from my mother for gas exploration. They now want us to ratify the lease as ''heirs''. Since we are the owners of record, shouldn't we also be entitled to proceeds from the lease?
