Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Mistake with dates on apartment lease contract

We signed a lease back in May that was supposed to be 13 months long. However, after reviewing the lease to find out about early termination, we noticed that under lease terms, it states that our lease extends from May 11, 2002 until midnight June 30, 2002. It also states that we will be on a month to month basis until a 30 days written notice is given. Am I correct to assume that we are no longer bound by this contract as the dates suggest?

Re: Mistake with dates on apartment lease contract

This date was obviously a mistake. A judge would most likly modify the lease to what the parties intented at the time the lease was entered into. The month to month language is standard in a lease. It deals with the situation where you hold over after the lese term ends. Larry Maun 713.266.2560
