Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
My neighbor has regraded their backyard so now my backyard is flooding. We've spoken with the City, had a city inspector come look, and spoken with the neighbors. The neighbors have informed us they will not be changing anything about their yard, and the city has said it is a civil case. What should we do?

Hire a contractor to fix the problem and sue your neighbors for the cost.

There's a Texas statute that prohibits altering the flow of surface water. You can sue for damages, or perhaps an injunction to make your neighbor stop flooding you. The statute provides you can recover your attoney's fees if you win.
