Obtaining a release of lien

1. Borrowed money to buy mobile home. (1989) 2. Paid off note when former home sold, approx. 3 months. 3. (1998) Applied for home improvement loan. 4. Bank stated that a release of lien was necessary. No paper of this sort was sent to me. 5. Checked at courthouse and found that a release had never been filed by the S&L. 6. S&L Ass'n. is now defunct. 7. How can I find where the records of defunct S&L's are kept?

I don't know how it goes in TX, but here inWY I'd try the Secretary of State. That officeshould be able to get you started in theright direction.
