Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
oil and gas lease
We own 50% of the mineral and oil rights for the property that we live on. The person that owns the other 50% already signed an oil and gas lease for the next 3 years. We were told that they can drill if they want to, even without our signature. Is this true? Is it wise to sign an oil and gas lease? They said that they would compensate for the hay field if they do decide to drill.

Re: oil and gas lease
An attorney will need to go over your deed and could then advise you on your first question. They could also assist you in ensuring favorable terms on any mineral lease you sign. If you try to do this on your own, you will miss a lot of the details.
