Oil & gas property title transfer

I have oil & gas royalties and I would like to transfer ownership to my grandson. How do I go about doing this? Who do I contact? The royalities are located in Hardin County, Texas

If you own these outright, you can transfer the interest via a warranty deed to your grandson. If these were inherited by you, then you may need to do some curative title work first, and then you can transfer the interest. The appraisal district, the county clerk and the issuer of the royalty checks should all be notified.

Contact the operator of the oil interests and tell them you wish to transfer your interests. They should provide you with forms to complete. As part of the transfer you probably will be required to execute an Assignment of your interests. The operator will then issue a new Division Order reflecting the changed interest.
