Who Pays Water Bill after a Main line underground busts?

We have only lived here 6 weeks. Backyard is flooded one morning, call the water dept. they shut off water, they said call landlord, break was between main and house.. Landlord comes out several hours later, fixes it, BUT there isnow a $600.00 water bill, Who should pay? I was willing to pay 125.00 which is double of average in my neighborhood. All my neighbors have 40- 60 bills.

It will probably depend upon the terms of your lease. If the landlord is responsible for repairs, I would argue that the landlord must pay the increased water bill because the increased water bill would not have occured without the water line break.
