Pre-signed lease, can it be null and void prior to effective date?

If I sign a lease December 3, 2002 for the year beginning March 1, 2003 to February 28, 2003. But have to move prior to the effective date because my company transfers me to another city is that lease null and void? Remembering this is December 2002 and lease does not become effective until 03/01/03.

No, not unless you include a right to terminate the lease for that reason in the lease document.
