Property Deed

I purchased a piece of property through an individual . Now that I have made my last payment, the owner can not produce a deed. What can I do ?

You should retain a real estate attorney immediately and take action to ensure you get title.

You first need to find out if your seller owned the property he was selling you. You can get an ownership report from a title company for about $150. You will need a good legal description of the property, not a street address. If he owns it, he can make a new deed to you; his original deed is not needed. If he doesn't own it, you'll have to sue him.
