Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

What can be done if property heirs cannot be located?

The wife of my uncle inherited a piece of property when her sister died. My uncle's wife has since died. My uncle, who now cannot handle his business affairs, tried locating members of the family for many years and I have tried locating them for several years also. The house is rented and a management firm collects the money and keeps it in an account. Taxes have been paid from that account. That company want relief from their duties so what are my options if I cannot locate a member of that other family?

it may be necessary to file a lawsuit to "quiet title." You probably need an attorney's assistance for this as it is not something a lay person would ordinarily find easy to do. Assuming your father was responsible for payment of taxes, etc., and his wife left no heirs, the property MIGHT, under some circumstances, be part of his estate.
