Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
Property Tax Payment and Repairs on Property
My brother and I received notice of property tax sale on my father's estate. My father is deceased and left no will. We made payment arrangements with the attorneys and made payments directly to the Tax Assessor. My other brother filed a quit claim deed on the property and he has not paid the taxes nor has he bothered to pay us for the repairs we completed and paid for or the property taxes we paid. How do we file a property lien since he is not willing to pay us the money we put into paying the pasta due taxes and the home repairs we did and if we continue to pay the taxes how do we get him to reimbuse us since he has a quit claim deed? He received this quit claim deed from the loan company both he and my brother borrowed from to pay previous delinquent property taxes. He defaulted on the loan, but was able to get a quit claim deed from them. We live in another city and not in the city where we paid the past due property tax.

Re: Property Tax Payment and Repairs on Property
You need to have an attorney examine the actual documents to make sure they are sufficient. I don't know how other brother can arbitrarily file a QCD without getting the interest from someone. Sounds like a bit of a mess. Many attorneys will give a free initial telephone consultation to discuss the specifics and provide an estimate of costs of assistance.
