Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
quitcliam deed
Can a quitclaim deed protect me from my husband's ex-wife from putting a lien on my home should he become ill and/or unemployeed due to health issues? I put my hard earned money on this house plus I make the payments on my home.

Re: quitcliam deed
I am assuming you are talking about a lien that would be placed against the home in the event a spousal support or child support obligation of your husband's is not paid due to his illness or disability. The court may find that the filing of a quitclaim deed is a fraudulent transfer (done specifically to avoid the obligation) and I don't think it would work. If that is not what you are asking, please provide more specifics.
