Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

I carry a 2nd on the home I sold. The current owner filed bankruptcy, but he is now out of the bankruptcy and I want him to start paying me again (he hasn't paid me any payments since last sept). How do I go about getting to start paying me again. Do I have to have an attorney write to him or can I just write a letter demanding him to pay or I will get a lawyer to file that he has defaulted in his payments to me?
