Real Estate Contract

Does a promissory note alone, signed only by the purchasor, for purchase of a home constitue a legal contract sale? Is it enough?

A promissory note is only an obligation to pay a certain amount to someone. It is not a contract for sale. However, it would be unusual to have only a promissory note and no contract. Typically, a deed of trust would be executed at the same time. Are you the buyer or seller? Was there title insurance?
