Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
REal Estate Law
new wife's dad bought a house in Texas she and I currently are living in, she has been paying a monthly mortgage to her dad, who lives in Minnesota, and as a result his property taxes are very high because he cannot claim certain exemptions, including homestead. He has asked if we can put her name on the deed and what do we need to do in order for that to happen. Is this similar to a quick deed type of transaction? Thanks,

A quitclaim wouldn't do what you want. You would need two things (1) written permission from the bank allowing a transfer and (2) a special warranty deed from Dad to ?? (I don't know if you want it in both names or not.) A law office or title company would do this for a small fee (probably 200-300)
