Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Rela estate problems

I sold a home a year ago and the new buyer is suing me for 100K becuase he says the house is falling apart. He claims the foundation has moved 5 inches as well as other misc items. The letter we recieved said that the damages are more than the cost of the house. We bought the house from my parents and thet were very miticulate, A certified inspector did not work up the damages (but his friends he calls experts did)We owned the home for one year prior before we were relocated. We had an FHA loan and it was inspected when we bought it. He refused the inspection before he moved in and tried to get his friends to inspect it and we refused. He signed @ closing that he refused the inspection. We have not seen the home in a year and it is in another town. What should we do? I think I am getting scammed.

Re: Rela estate problems

One year after the sale and he is out of luck, unless he can prove that you knew of the defects at the time of sale and deliberately concealed them from the buyer.

His refusal of an inspection at time of sale is an important legal point.

The best approach is to ignore his communications unless you want to negotiate a payment with him, and consult a local real estate lawyer about your options.
