Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Rental Dispute/Question

I own a mobile home and rent a plot of land. I signed a lease from 8/1/98-7/31/99 and have not renewed since(landlord never asked) and now am told to remove my fence I just erected. Lease states no fence will be erected without landlord concent (I didn't remember this)but he (told me he) saw my fencing in my yard for 1 week and didn't stop by to tell me this rule was in my lease, but still wants it down now. Also, 8/2000 rent was raised on the condition that I would receive a gravel driveway. Rent has been raised, but no driveway delivered. I have already discussed this with him and he keeps putting me off. Now he said he would give me $500 if I sell/move my house soon. This is much cheaper than a driveway. What are my rights? I need my fence at least until I can sell my house. I am a student and live alone, he knows this.

Re: Rental Dispute/Question

Your rights are exactly as stated in your lease concerning fences, driveways, etc. They are not self-executing, however, you will have to stand your ground and enforce them yourself.

Insist on the driveway, but get ready to sell or move. Things will only get worse from here.
