Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Rental Hall Usage

I own a banquet hall facility. My question is that do I have the right to suspend any event if I feel that it may be a safety issue for the guests even though the renter may not think so.

Please reply asap.

Thanks

Re: Rental Hall Usage

Your agreement to rent your hall is a contract, whether written or oral. If you fail to perform your part of the contract you could be subject to a claim of damages by the other party. On the other hand you cannot provide an unsafe facility. If the facility can be made safe, you should do so and comply with the contract. If it cannot be made safe you could be held in breach of your contract. On the other hand if it is the activity of the renter that makes it unsafe, you are probably within your rights to terminate the contract without damages being incurred by you.
