When you signed up for the storage unit you probably signed a contract concerning your unit which includes promises that you made to the storage company and promises they made to you. That contract governs this situation. Read that contract and see if they broke any of their promises to you. If you believe they did then it is worth hiring an attorney to help you because your losses are worth almost $8000 to you. Remember though that anything the storage company might owe you will be lessened by any promises in the contract that you did not keep to them. Also, if you have any insurance coverage contact your agent because those losses might be covered by insurance.
