Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Roommate

My roommate is trying to kick me out and we are both on the lease. She thinks she can give me back my deposit and I'll be on my way. I do not feel like I should be the one to move out and she is also a alcoholic and has 5 cats that are not on the lease. How do I get her evicted and off the lease??

Re: Roommate

Unfortunately you are both on the lease and if one of you moves out you both remain liable. The only way to avoid liability is a release from the landlord, if they will give it. The landlord can evict you both for having the cats.
