Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Sibling Rivalry 911

My parents have a number of homes that they put into my name only. Now they are older and want to divide the properties amongst my siblings. I am the ''Cinderella'' of the family who stayed home to take care of my parents and do all the maintence on the properties. My siblings and parents have become violent with me in an effort to get me to sign over properties to them. What are my rights? I want to keep all the properties because I was the only one who ever took care of them. They even tried to have me committed! Help!!!

Re: Sibling Rivalry 911

If the properties are only in your name, completely paid off, and you honestly believe that you have earned them (particularly if your parents can show that the properties were bought by them with their money), then you can probably defend against any claims to recover the properties. You need to move out and get away from all of them. The less contact they have with you the harder it is for them to try to have you committed. Keep an attorney between you and them. We can assist you in this matter, and you need assistance. Feel free to contact our Austin member, Ms. Moore.
