Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

spousal rights

my wife has 2 houses in her name (they were rental properties, but no one lives in them now)-one she paid off before we married (I Think-I would have to check to be sure) and the other was paid off after we married (we are going on seven years of marriage)-we have no children-she recently asked an attorney-if we have no wills made out and she passes away-do the houses go to her siblings or to me (her husband)-the attorney said to her siblings! I thought Texas being a community State-the spouse gets everything in the event of the others death? Was he right or wrong-if right what do I do to protect myself from fighting her family over these houses and all other possessions of ours-in case she passes away before I do?

Re: spousal rights

This is a complicated question and more facts are needed to give a reliable answer. It would be worth the money to talk to an attorney for an hour on this...and to make wills.
