Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Do "squatters" have rights?

My dad has allow a neighbor to use some of his land for cattle grazing with no definite terms. Can he lose his land by allowing the neighbor to use the land over a period of time?

Re: Do

No, he cannot lose the land simply by permitting the neighbor to run livestock on it.

A wise thing to do, however, would be to send the neighbor a certified letter explaining that the use is permissive and no rights will be gained by that use. Others not acquainted with the facts can then judge the relationship easily.
