Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

State of Texas - I found this home on a website where a broker was selling a home for the owner. I decided that i liked the house. I have a contract between me and the broker to make payments to the broker. I believe the broker has a contract between him and the previous owner. I pay the broker 1200.00 a month for the house but this does not inlcude taxes and insurance. The brokers says I am the owner of the house. On the dallas county appraisal district website my name shows as the owner but when I pull the information up on the dallas county website showing the tax information my name is not on there. It shows the previous owners name. I found out that the taxes on the house were due for 2008 and 2009. There is $11,000.00 that are due for the taxes on this home and I was told that the house is going to go up for auction if they didnt receive a payment. The broker said he didnt know what was going on and if anything happends he will put me in another house with no down payment. So the broker financed the house to me and now I feel that there is something fishy going on. I had been saving money for a down payment for years. I gave him $8000.00 down for this house. And one time the previous owner called me and asked me if I had made a payment for one month because the broker told him I didnt make the payment for that month and he wanted to check with me because he needs to pay the mortgage company. I told him that I have not missed a payment. Can someone please help me and tell me if this is illegal that the broker is doing? Am I really purchasing this home?

This sounds a little fishy. You should talk to an attorney ASAP to protect your interests, if you have any. The broker should have known about the back taxes. It may not be worth your while to rescue the house from foreclosure if the owner is upside down on the mortgage. You have some research to do.
