Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Sublet with no papers ?

HELLO-

Can you tell me please if I am currently subletting an apartment thats furnished. and I have absolutely not signed any lease or paper work in any way whatsoever am I responsible? . The agreement is between the neighbor and not the tenant of the apartment who is away. What are my responsibilities? If I break something can I be sued or not? Its entirely verbal nothing has been signed at all what so ever. As far as the other tenants know I am visiting if any thing. Again no lease or paperwork has been signed its all played by word of mouth all verbal. If I accidentally damage something in the apartment can I be sued?? or not.? Can the landlord, tenant, and neighbor who I pay rent to come after me and sue me if something goes wrong? am I protected from damage since it is entirely verbal and no paper work has been signed in any way?

Thanks a million

Just trying to make things fair for my rights and protect myself.

It looks like you want to break something and get away with it.

But seriously, you can always be sued for anything. But if you haven't signed anything then the tenant is still responsible for the rent and their usual duties and the landlord only owes their duties to the tenant and not you. So if you break anything the landlord could sue you simply for breaking it and take you to small claims court for example.
