Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Being sued by city.

I purchased a home in 2006 and received a city assistance grant. I found out today that I am being sued because the last inspection showed that the house was vacant. I have never moved out but stayed with my boyfriend while my living room was being remodeled. It was only about 3 months. I never changed my address and never forwarded my mail. I was there the whole time but slept at his house. They said it was because the utilities were not used. Is this legal? I don't feel that this was a breach in my contract or anything. I have a 6 year old child that I did not want to have sleep in a house that was filthy from sheet rock and saw dust. Thanks

Re: Being sued by city.

If you are being sued, you need an attorney ASAP. If it is an eviction or foreclosure, or indeed any kind of lawsuit, there will be deadlines that, if missed, can cause you to lose regardless of what reasonable defenses you may have.

The terms of the city assistance grant are likely to govern whether or not you have any defenses.
