Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Sued for eviction

I have been sued for eviction and given a court date to appear before a judge. Is it possible for me to settle with the apartment before going to the judge and not have to go at all? Or, if I do appear before a judge, but am not contesting the eviction, do I need an attorney?

You don't have to appear, but you will lose by default. Then the court issues an order which the constable will execute in "moving you out" if you don't leave within the time specified in the order. You will also have a money judgment hanging out there against you for your rent arrears, penalties, and court costs.
