If you are married, and purchase an investment proprerty does the wife have to acknowledge the debt?

That depends on your lender. If your wife doesn't want to acknowledge the debt, let the lender know. They may require her signature anyway.

I have not addressed the issue of whether she would be liable for the debt - this would require more facts.
