Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

In Texas, can a lawn mowing service put a lien on my house for non-payment?

There is no signed contract, only verbal. My problem is the company quit showing up for two months to mow the yard, when I called to inquire they stated I had not paid ( I have, I have a copy of the check) and showed up the next day and mowed the yard. Now, they are claiming they will put a lien on my house if I don't pay.( Again)

No, they can't do that. They are bums for even threatening to do such a thing.
