Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Title to grandfathers property

I recently found out that the lot where my grandparents once lived is still owned by him. The taxes had not been paid since 1988! I recently paid the taxes owed (1,784.58), and would like to build on this lot. How do I get deed, title (ownership) of this property? Can I?

My father is deceased and my grandparents have no other living children.

Assuming everyone who is an heir can be located and will sign off on it, yes, you can do this. If everyone is in agreement, it wouldn't be very difficult to have this done for you. It would take a combination of heirship affidavits, a family settlement agreement and deeds.
