Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Transfer Title 27 Years Later

27 years ago my husband's father died. He did not have a will. The home was in his name only, but he was married. Now 27 years later we need to get the home in his widow wife's name. How can we do this? Her name was NOT on the original deed, but they were married at the time the home was purchased. There is no mortgage on the home, and she has resided there for 40+ years. There was no will, no probate, no final expenses. We are talking about a home wiht a current value of $85,000.

Thank you.

Re: Transfer Title 27 Years Later

YOu can clear the title to the house, but it will take a little bit of effort. You'll need to determine the family history of the deceased and establish title. Each one of the people will then need to deed out to your mother. Feel free to call or email me if you wish to discuss this further.
