Verbally Joining a Mass Lawsuit

I own property at Terlingua in West Texas. The legal name of the land is Terlingua Ranch and the association is 'Property Owners Association Terlingua Ranch' On 8/11/2006 a mass lawsuit of 140 property owners, of which I joined verbally with the person that is filing the lawsuit, was filed stating that the property owners association violated 6 different things. On 11/25/2006 I received a letter from the association stating that by being part of a lawsuit I violated one of the by-laws of the association which is: 'causing unnecessary financial burden' to the association. A hearing of these 140 land owners is being held on 1/25/2007 at the ranch. Does joining a lawsuit verbally make me liable? Can I remove myself from the lawsuit without harm?

As long as you didn't sign anything, you are not part of the lawsuit. Tell that to the HOA and tell the leading plaintiff to remove you from the lawsuit.
