Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

We were on the verge of losing our home and after dealing with the mortgage company, which was not cooperating with us at all, we decided to walk away from our home. Soon after our mortgage was sold to another mortgage company and they were immediately willing to help us keep our home. They worked out a modification that we have agreed to. Our issue is this: in the meantime we found a house to rent. We want to and are planning to move back to our home (we never lost ownership and intend to keep what we worked hard to get and keep) and we don't want a foreclosure on our credit. Can we break the existing lease because of this without fear of getting sued?
