Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Walker County Mineral Rights

I have been told I am an heir to some mineral rights in Walker Co. I was not contacted like the other heirs. The other cousins are not being forthright with this innformation. I do not know where the property is. How do I find this information. Will it be in a deed and can that deed be located by a name search?

where do I go to do this?

The best place to start is with the person who gave you the information. If that is a dead end, you can search the Walker Co. deed records and look for a deed executed by an ancestor that either granted mineral rights or retained mineral rights when it conveyed surface rights. A "Landman" (a term for someone who deals in minerals - could be a woman) in Walker Co. could also help you, but there may be a fee. Best of luck.
