Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Texas
Harassment in Non-Work Environment
I have been trying to find out if there are any Texas or federal laws governing harassment of a sexual nature, outside of the work environment. I haven't found any yet. My wife's ex-husband (they've been divorced over a year) is serving in the Middle East right now. They have a daughter, so they have to keep some form of contact. Every now and then, he calls her by sexually suggestive pet names in his emails. One was recently bad when he suggested that she still wanted him and made reference to his phallus. I know that my wife doesn't appreciate this, but she's won't say anything for fear of starting a row. Is there any law that I can refer this man to in order to put a stop to this? Thanks, B.

Re: Harassment in Non-Work Environment
You can always explain that this behavior is not appropriate as he represents several generations of fine dedicated servicemen and to act otherwise is disrespectful to the mother of his chile and the noble branch of service of which he serves in.
Having said that he will be aware of military ethics and codes of conduct he needs to consider at all times.
