Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Texas
Is this right or am i overreacting?
My manager made comments to me that I felt were degrading. My coworkers said it could be sexual harassment. When I asked for a raise at my job the manager said ''Why don't you work at the strip bar if you want more money'' I am the only female at this job and felt he was in the wrong. One day I told him what my future plans were and he said I was going to be nothing but a drunk loser like my mother. First of all I don't drink because i am only 19. He has one of his friends call me a bitch every time he is in the store. I got fed up with his crap and decided to tell the manager what he was saying. He found out and told my co workers that I was about to be fired. He also told them that I said he ''sucked dick'' (pardon french) which I did not. He is making it out to look like I am the problem and not the victim. The other three employees are all witnesses to his actions and the things I told you were just a few of about a dozen things he has done. What should I do please help. Thankyou--name removed--
P.S. The strip bar comment was the first of about 3 more that had to do with me taking a job at the bar.

You may have a cause of action under Title VII and the parallel state statute, for sexual discrimination and hostile work environment. However, more details are needed to answer your question. Did the harassment continue after you told the manager? Was the offender disciplined? Where do you work? Did the manager know of any prior conduct by the offender, similar to your comcomplaints? How many employees? You may email me at [email protected] and give me these details. At that point I can respond a little better.
