Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Texas

Third party sexual harrassment

My supervisor made repeated sexual comments about me to some of my coworkers for several months. This went on without my knowledge. One of the coworkers filed an interal complaint against the supervisor for creating a hostile work environment for HIM and used the sexual harrassment of me to further his case. I was never told of the sexual comments, nor was I given an opportunity to question anyone about it because the case was and still is ''under investigation''. I was ordered to give a statement regarding the supervisor's behavior towards the other employee but at no time was my supervisor's statements about me brought to my attention.I found out from another coworker confidentially. Since everyone at work who knew this was going on didn't bother to tell me (it would have changed the results of the other case probably) my workplace has been extremely hostile as everyone thinks I have been sleeping with my supervisor (based on his comments)and receiving preferential treatment. From what I understand, this isn't the first time my supervisor has had a problem like this. What legal options do I have?

Re: Third party sexual harrassment

You have certain civil rights protections afforded to you by both Federal and State statutory law. You also may have a cause of action for defmamation of character. The cases are very fact specific, and certain prerequisites have to be satisfied before you can bring an action against your employer for vilation based on sex, as well as age, race, religion, etc. Further, these prerequisites are tied to stringent deadlines that if missed can be davastating to your legal rights.
