Legal Question in Social Security Law in Texas
SSI and Medicare Benefits
My parents want to sell their home and move in with me because they are both in poor health. I will need to buy a bigger home to accomodate them. Their home is only worth 50K. Can they apply this money towards the purchase of our home? Will this affect their benefits? We are looking for a home with detached living quarters.

Re: SSI and Medicare Benefits
If they are close to benefit time, you need to plan this carefully, because there are "look back" rules which might cover this situation.
There are probably ways to structure this, but you need expert opinion in the law, but as specifically in estate planning and SSI.
