This is a federal income tax question. My son earned 10,300 from a company and has a w2 to prove earnings in 2006. He received document from irs in 2008 indicating that the same company he received a w2 from in 2006 indicating he earned 150, 472 from 1099-misc. He has repeatedly indicated to irs that he did not earn that money. The company in 2007 went into bankruptcy and doesnt exist anymore. The irs is still continuing to collect on taxes they insist he still owes.
We dont know what to do as the company doesnt exist anymore.. He also only earns around 25,000 a year and cannot afford an expensive lawyer to assist in resolving yhe problem.
What can he do ?
