Can husband and i legally claim his sister on our taxes?
His sister is an international student here on a visa and 19 years old. My husband who was an international but we've applied for an adjustment of status with the application still pending(he did get the workers permit) And i who am an American citizen, can we claim his 19 year old sister that we are taking care of financially? We buy clothes, personal items, food and cleaning supplies that she needs at the dorms. She stays with us on weekends and through holidays. She has a social security number. We are not paying for her school the dad is who is in Africa is. But other than that we are paying for the rest.

You would need to be able to prove that you provide over half of her support and that she is your dependent
