IRS and paying back taxes
my Husband and I found out that the IRS corrected our 2005 Income Tax Return and now says that we owe at least 8,000 dollars in back taxes.
I don't know why it took the IRS to correct our 2005 income tax return?

Re: IRS and paying back taxes
The IRS probably corrected your returns due to their disallowing a deduction/credit/expense that you claimed or that they received notice from a third party indicating that you received income that was not reported on your tax return.
You do have the right to contest any IRS adjustments.
An experienced tax attorney ca help you with this.
