Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas

a 12 year old speeding ticket

My wife received a letter from a texas county stating she had a warrant against her for speeding, no insurance and failure to appear. The incident was dated in 1995 and the warrant was issued in 2006.

The tickets were in one county and the letter came from another county.

The ticket is almost $1000. We asked for a copy of the ticket and a copy of the warrant. The constable would not send copies. Is this ticket still valid? It is 12 years old and they waited until it was eleven years before issuing a warrant.

Re: a 12 year old speeding ticket

Maybe, maybe not. Generally speaking, when a person is out of the state, the statute of limitations is tolled. More information would provide a better response. As a guess, most attorneys would charge at least a few hundred dollars, just to learn the actual details of the situation, and might tell you that the warrant and charges are valid. Hard to know. Good luck.
