Alteration of license plate

According to Texas law, (SECTION 1. Section 502.409, Transportation Code WRONG, FICTITIOUS, ALTERED, OR OBSCURED LICENSE PLATE), your plate must be ''plainly visible at all times during daylight'' and ''has a coating, covering, or protective material that: (A) distorts angular visibility or detectability; or (B) alters or obscures the letters or numbers on the plate, the color of the plate, or another original design feature of the plate.'' So, if we use a spray that allows for visibility at all times of the day, to the police officer, and does not distort the view of the plate or alters it in anyway, but simply does not allow the cameras to take a picture of it, it should be legal by the letter of the Texas statute, right?

Interesting question, however, I think you are more interested in the opinion of the Court of Criminal Appeals, than my opinion. On its face it would appear that you are correct, but assume that it would be litigated through the appellate courts. TCL
