What is the difference between a Guilty Plea and a Nolo Contendere plea?

A guilty plea tells the court that you did what you are accused of doing. A nolo contendre (no contest) plea tells the court that you know what you are accused of, and you choose to accept the evidence against you without contesting it.
Practically speaking, in a criminal court, there is no difference. It usually becomes relevant only if there a civil case underlying the same facts.
